i've forgotten a bunch of shit in my life.. well,
i wouldn't say forgetting in a manner of speaking, since everything leaves
its traces behind. this will take examples from 'pulled learning'
and attempt to define it more, so make sure you've read Zen g.
let's say that you're a child, hearing songs for the first time. you hear the beats and melodies. noe, even though you don't know what they mean or how they were produced mathematically, you know it makes sense because you like listening to it. now, over the years, you create newer and newer associations to link those feelings in your mind to connect all the way back to the first songs you've ever heard. you don't know you're doing any of this, of course, because some of it has been forgotten along the way and is handled with your autonomic mind. forgetting is the real bridge-gapper in any situation.. when you've forgotten a thing's source of why you like it, your mind seeks to define it in new reasons but probably won't come up with the right one. then, it's up to you to go in your impulses that are left behind to root it out and through trial and error see what it was you lost. you could compare the gap, on a large scale, to what an artists performs compared to how the receiver interprets it. both people know some form of the art, but the gap comes from the performer knowing what it took to create the art to the receiver who just listens to it, feeling good but not really sure what from the art put him there. often times i'll selectively forget things on
purpose (but i won't tell myself that).. sme with other people. for various
reasons (one that pops to mind is insecurity) people will forcedly channnel
out what they don't want to hear. it varies from person to person, but
bad cases can be pretty funny to watch.
